RHS Class of 73 Reunion Meeting minutes
Sunday, June 22, 11:00a
Michelle & Layne’s home
Very nice brunch, guys. Thanks, like ever so much. Yeah, that
sounds sarcastic, but it ain’t. The backyard is very relaxing and I swear
it has nothing to do with the mimosas.
Attending:
Dennis Magures Charles Johnson
Joannette Korngold Ross Fanucci
Cindi & Dave Fuller Yvonne & Lauren McCrary
Victor Esparza
Final week prior to event of the millennium. Discussed a ton o’ stuff,
but when the smoke cleared we came away knowing we will not be in the red
come midnight on the 28th.
Discussed:
• Balloon release prior to dinner for those who wish to attend.
Balloons bearing the names of our classmates who have passed will be released
outside at 7:15.
• The confirmed list stands at 98 attendees – very good showing.
We expect perhaps another few late reservations to arrive prior to Wednesday’s
dinner reservation cut-off. C’mon, there’s still time!
• Can access the ballroom around 2:00 for decorating
• Charles & Dennis graciously ordered commemorative shirts for
committee – thanks, guys – make mine fuchsia
• Charles also has a photographer who will take digital pictures
available that night for 20.00. No reservation fee required.
• Cindi & Yvonne have created very nice centerpieces for the
tables. Took a serious amount of time and energy to track all the ingrediments
down. Way to go, girls. They’ll look muy tre’ bitchin.
• The banner Ross has created will be available for all to sign.
We’ll keep for display at the 35th.
• We’ll also use the guest book from the 20th and continue to use
the same book until we fill it or lose it. Who signed the book ten
years ago as Jack the Ripper? Gosh, that just keeps getting funnier, no?
• Ok, the biggie – and we took 20 minutes kicking the snot out of
this one: Shall we charge and if so, how much for late (post dinner) arrivals?
We agreed it is more important that all who wish to attend have the opportunity
to stop in and say hello. Consequently, after 9:00 we will ask for 10 frogskins
to help cover the cost of the DJ.
• Sylvia may have been yanking my chain, but she volunteered to
be the door pass monitor all evening. Won’t be necessary as Charles’ friend
wants to do it….no, seriously.
• IF YOU WISH TO GOLF Friday morning (6/27) I NEED TO KNOW NOW.
(COMMITTEE@TIGERS73.COM) We have consecutive tee times beginning
at 8:27 at Diamond Oaks GC. Please arrive at least 15-20 minutes early.
• Any and all are invited to Dennis’ suite at the Holiday Inn at
5:30 Friday night to prepare the centerpieces.
• Finally, and I haven’t a flippin clue how this happened, any and
all are invited to my place Friday night after 7:00 for beverages, both
adult and other and appetizers. Pray to heaven the bathroom remodel is
complete. 204 Bonny Knoll Rd, Roseville – across from 1973’s favorite
midnight Frisbee baseball park – Garbolino (Off Douglas Blvd at Roseville
Square & JITB) Margaritas, anyone?
• p.s. – Remember friends from other classes are more than welcome.
RHS Class of '73 30 Yr Reunion Committee Meeting Notes
5.24.03
Location: Joannette Korngold’s home
Thanks again, Joannette & Ali for the hospitality &
good munchies
Attending:
Michelle Mahan Ross Fanucchi
Dennis Magures Charles Johnson
Dave & Cindi Fuller Yvonne & Lauren McCrary
Mona Zents Maggio Victor Esparza
• Confirmations and reservations are slowly coming in. The committee
will be hard pressed to finalize head counts for dinner, funds available
for prizes, decorations, etc unless we see a spike in replies in the next
two weeks.
• RSVP is listed as June 13 – Please, if you plan on attending, reply
as soon as you can. We will appreciate the effort. Thanks
• Victor will look for Friday, June 27 a.m. golf reservations on June
20. Reserve a spot in a foursome by this date via the Commiittee@tigers73.com
e-mail address.
• Ross & Dave are nearing completion of the audio/visual presentation.
With Kristel Fuller home from college soon, expert consultation is imminent.
• Local newspapers & tv access is difficult to navigate. Can do
this but won’t do that…guess which costs more? Pizzants! We’ll utilize
community calendars and bulletin boards to continue advertising. Tell a
friend.
• IMPORTANT: Please make checks payable to Joannette Korngold
as the bank is being difficult in depositing checks made to RHS. 2xPizzants!
• Our contacted list is still less than groovy. Please reply with addresses
of any classmates you may have. Check against Richard’s spreadsheet on
this site.
• Remember the deadline to reserve a room at the Holiday Inn at the
special rate of 79 frogskins is June 10. Those are going fast.
• Next meeting to tie this all together is Friday, June 13, 6:30p at
Charles & Maria’s new home in Sac. Behind the Country Club Center Macy’s
near Watt & El Camino. E-mail the committee for the address.
It’s getting close and over a year’s worth of diligence
is coming to fruition. And about d*mn time too! The committee hopes you’ll
join us for a great evening of food, fun, and sharing memories – not to
mention laughing at Wic’s hairline. Go easy, he’s sensitive.
Don’t miss this sure-to-be-a-way-bitchin-evening! Get
your reservation in now!
Rat on.

(Sylvia No Show)
Charles began by distributing
the meeting agenda, Holiday Inn event contract, and budget detail.
After review and discussion
of the particulars, the committee agreed all is in order with one exception.
Charles is to have terms
& conditions reviewed with extraneous fees, already agreed to be exempt,
lined out and initialed by HI rep.
The budget is still tentative,
as we have not contracted entertainment. Research by Charles has found
a number of DJ/MC services ranging from 175.00 to 250.00 per hour. He will
ask if we can see ”The Entertainment Team” in action at an upcoming event.
Charles knows the owner; their charge is $175.00/hr.
Decided to postpone discussion
on additional reunion weekend activities until subsequent meetings. Wish
to have a better idea of how many we expect to attend.
Break-even point for event
at current known costs (including 700.00 music charges) is 90 paid attendees.
Ideas batted around re:
what to do with “overage” should we sell considerably more tickets. The
usual expected nonsense ensued:
-
Drop it all on black in Tahoe
-
Award random cash prizes at reunion
-
New bbq for Michelle
-
25k policy on CJ; next reunion in Vegas if it
pays off (Rick’s brainstorm)
-
Hair plugs for those on committee in need
-
Savings account with at least three low risk signers
on card
Richard provided mailing labels
for the postcards everyone should have received by now. To date (3.13.)
we have mailed 114 postcards announcing the reunion. The formal invitation
we hope to mail by mid-April.
Reminder: This event is
not limited to RHS class of ’73 graduates. Anyone who attended school with
us, but perhaps moved before graduation is very welcome. Additionally,
those friends of ours from other years are welcome as well.
Cindi serves one hell of
a mean clam chowder. Dave has too many audio/video gadgets. We’ll view
Rick’s VHS tape of the 15 yr reunion presentation at Joannette’s next meeting.
Closed with a rousing chorus
of “Happy Birthday” to someone in attendance that reportedly was the Project
Manger when dirt was invented. Cheesecake and red wine for all.
Meeting adjourned 8:30p
Dave & Cin promise
to hook up with CJ & Wic at the high school crab feed with the Onyx
in our sights for later. A phone call an hour later confirms our fears
– Dave is conversing with the couch – face down. Dennis Magures fills in
admirably. Charlie later heard to comment it was the first time he
was the oldest body in the West House. And he was right.

Joannette Korngold’s beautiful new home in
western Roseville
For those of you who haven’t been around for a while – this is out where
you never would have considered going to acquaint yourself and your friends
with that Friday nite post-football game 6 pack. Way past ‘the curve’
but west of there by a mile. Who woulda thunk it?
Joannette, your home is beautiful.
In attendance:
Ross Fanucchi
Donna (Piches) White
Charles Johnson
Richard McCrary
Mona (Zents) Lopez-Maggio
Victor –No Blondie Concert tonight, thank you- Esparza
Report given by Charles and Richard
re: The Holiday Inn site meeting and the banquet / buffet options available.
Determined it will be best to offer varied food stations
to reduce lines; wait time. Three stations will offer salads, pastas, and
carving station with beef & poultry.
After polishing off a wonderfully prepared dinner of chicken,
snausages, rice, beans, salad (an IPA or 5 and two too many bottles of
wine, we retired to the parlor and commenced to calling people for whom
we had numbers.
Max Wiggins tells everyone hello. Howard Claiborne is
back in the state after wreaking havoc in Colorado. It was nice hearing
from Lupe Trevizo.
A few ex’s were “pleased” to tell us our former classmate
was no longer available at that number. Yeee-ha!
Please, if you have any contact information for classmates,
send to the addresses listed. And we thank yew fer yer support.
Meeting adjourned when Charles drained the last of the
chardonnay.
Check in soon. Check in often.
Love to all – no, really.

We met with Aticia, of the Holiday Inn and discussed the
menu. She is putting together pricing and options, for a for station, buffet
style meal.
-
We discussed room prices of $89 to $99 dollars and blocking
of rooms.
-
We toured the facilities and and were pleasantly surprised.
-
We talked to Donna about flyers and invitations. Rick Nelson
found his items from the last reunion and shared them with us. In 1992
we paid $35.00 per person. so we feel we are in the ballpark with inflation
figured in. Piches design will be doing our invites and flyers. Donna will
get back to us on prices. We now have $205.00 in the kitty with an addition
of $50.00 from Patti and $40.00 from Ross to help the cause.
-
We have put down already $500.00 to rent the facilities.
-
Meeting went smoothly due to the fact Victor and Sylvia were
not in attendance to disrupt things.
-
Meeting was adjourned to Makuni's in Roseville at 8:15 pm
Do to the fact that the RUHS Reunion
Committee has Little money in trust, the participants of this meeting
and participants of last meetings have lent the Reunion Committee $500.00
to be put towards the down payment of the facilities. This amount will
be delivered when contract at the Holiday Inn is signed, and can be either
recovered from future moneys from the Reunion Fund or applied towards the
participants cost of the reunion.
We are also requesting that fellow classmates
planning on attending, send a deposit of $30.00 to the Reunion Fund.
This amount will be deducted from the purchase of your ticket.
This is an expensive endeavor and any additional help you can afford will
be appreciated.

Meeting started late as he!! waiting for the food and
late arrivals. Passed time with appetizers, wine, and ridiculing host for
not having a telephone landline. STB! Minutes from 3/23 meeting were
passed after generally agreed Dennis did right by not editing same. Hoping
all who have read possess a sense of humor.
After much discussion, the committee decided to meet at

30 Freakin’ Year Reunion
Attending:
Charles Johnson
Richard McCrary
Dennis Magures
Patti Leles (Kostakis)
Joanette Korngold
Ross Fanucchi
Sylvia Lopez (Something)
Paul (tarde) Mize
Linda Scott
It was moved and seconded
the gathered masses were to plan, coordinate, brainstorm, arrange for,
and pull off the making of the class 30 yr reunion. It was generally agreed
to look for hotel sites as rooms were considered a near necessity, given
the class’s reputation as borderline alcoholics.
Locations to be researched:
-
Holiday Inn
-
Rocklin Park Hotel
-
Victorian Palms (crashing
at Sylvia’s mom’s place)
-
Radisson Woodlake (perhaps
Pablo Cruise and Ambrosia will be playing that night)
-
Hilton Hotel
-
DoubleTree
-
Bunz & Co – a natural
as most have slept there at some time or another in the past 20
Charles agreed to single handedly
research each location to ensure all were presented with the same list
of questions; ballroom costs, bar prices, curfew, food packages, how much
advance notice/reservation required, deposit?, room rates, condoms still
only .50 from the machines, etc.
Discussed:
-
Invite Oakmont – nixed
as too volatile a mix; Rodney, Jimmy & Dave in the same room with some
of those bastards? Not a pretty picture
-
All agreed opening to
classes a few years up and down would be a good thing – however not to
be misconscrewed as an invitation for some ’74 dinks to dictate plans
-
Single night affair (!) or include
multi year cocktail party, golf outing, family picnic, etc. TBD
-
Dates; in order of preference:
6/28, 6/21, 7/26, 7/19, 8/8
-
Use Classmates. Com to
advertise
-
Sell customized t-shirts
for seed money; or offer shirt as part of a donation 10-15.00 per?
Action Items:
-
Richard & Dennis to e-mail
announcements to those classmates for whom we have addresses
-
Richard will also handle design
of web site
-
Victor to contact Rick Nelson
(oh, yeah!) for list and notes from 15 yr.
-
Ross to submit designs for shirts
/ Victor to secure samples for review by committee, then get quotes
-
Donations to be sent to Joanette
at PO Box 297 / Roseville 95678
Next meeting: April
20 – 7:00p
